The 1 Million Hive Impact Initiative
Empowering farmers. Protecting bees. Restoring ecosystems.
Why Bees? Why Now?
Bees are responsible for pollinating over 70% of crops — yet across Tanzania and the world, their populations are in decline.
Habitat loss, harmful farming practices, and climate stress are destroying colonies, threatening food security and the environment.
The 1 Million Hive Impact Initiative is SAADIT’s urgent response — placing hives on smallholder farms, restoring ecosystems, and building a future where agriculture and nature work together.
Because without bees, there is no harvest.
What Is the 1 Million Hive Impact Initiative?
Hive to Harvest Project
A bee-crop integration model that places hives on smallholder farms and orchards to boost pollination, increase yields, and improve farmer incomes — all while conserving biodiversity.
Sponsor a Hive Campaign
Every TZS 30,000 you donate places a hive on a farmer’s land — improving livelihoods, increasing food production, and creating a ripple of environmental impact.
Bee Sanctuaries Project
We are creating protected spaces for bees — rich in native trees, water sources, and nesting habitats. These sanctuaries support wild pollinators and reduce colony loss across landscapes.
Hive to Harvest
From Bees to Food Security
Hive2Harvest is SAADIT’s flagship model that integrates beekeeping directly with smallholder farming to boost food production, income, and biodiversity. By placing beehives on orchards and crop fields—such as avocado, sunflower, coffee, and vegetables—farmers see yields rise by 30–40% while also earning from honey, beeswax, and other bee products. Each hive delivers dual benefits: pollination that improves food security and sustainable income that supports rural families. Farmers receive training, mentorship, and join village cooperatives for fair marketing and resilience. The project prioritizes women and youth, empowering them to lead in honey value chains. As part of the 1 Million Hive Impact Initiative, Hive2Harvest is transforming farms into pollinator-powered enterprises—helping communities fight poverty, strengthen ecosystems, and build a sustainable future.

How the Hive to Harvest Program Works
Whatis the Hive to Harvest
Hive to Harvest is a national initiative to integrate beekeeping directly into farming systems — boosting pollination, productivity, and rural incomes. It places beehives on farms and orchards while supporting farmers with training, tools, and market access
Where will it Operate
The program begins in 5 pilot regions: Njombe, Iringa, Mbeya, Arusha, and Dodoma — selected for their mix of orchard activity, drought vulnerability, and bee forage potential.
